As automobiles become more sophisticated, the number of onboard Electronic Control Units (ECU) that support the various vehicle functions has been increasing. As the number of ECU’s installed in each vehicle increases, it is more critical for the size and weight to be reduced.
To solve these issues, JAE is developing the MB01 Series of compact board to cable connectors.
As the development of smaller and ligher weight ECU’s accelerate, there is a growing demand for smaller connectors as well.
JAE has been developing the MB01 Series in response to the demand for miniaturization of its products, which are used in various applications including body electronics, BMS, and ADAS.
The MB01 Series is designed to significantly reduce the connector width dimensions that is critical for the overall ECU width.
Focusing on minimization, the new product has dual-row SMT terminals, a pitch of 1.5 mm, and 020 terminals with high terminal retention force.
To help reduce the connector size, the MB01 Series has a smaller contact pitch of 1.5 mm and employs a 020 terminal size. It is compatible with a wide operating temperature range of - 40 °C to +125 °C, and the pin header connectors are available with SMT hold-downs or through-hole hold downs UL94-V0 material is used for both pin and socket insulators, the number of positions ranges from 8 to 40 (in steps of 4), and test specifications are based on USCAR and others automotive specifications.
